They are asking members of the public, witnesses and victims to come forward with any information that may help them pursue a claim for compensation against Jimmy Savile’s estate.

Their client, a 62 year old woman from Wythenshawe in Manchester who wishes to remain anonymous, claims she had a sexual relationship with Savile which started when she was just a 14 year old school girl.

She first met Jimmy Savile in or around 1965-1966 when she visited the Top Ten Club in Belle Vue Manchester where Savile was performing as a DJ.  Telephone numbers were exchanged and within the first week of the initial meeting at the Top Ten Club, he invited her over to his flat for tea.  On the first visit she went straight from school but got changed out of her school uniform beforehand.  Savile apparently expressed disappointment that she had changed out of her uniform and actually suggested she changed back into it.  His flat was on the ground floor of a large Victorian building on Bury New Road in Higher Broughton.  She remembers that despite his celebrity, the flat was rather scruffy and more like a small bed-sit.  Regular visits continued to take place where full sexual intercourse occurred.  On a couple of occasions there were two other men present whist she was abused, although neither actually witnessed any sexual acts, but did see her in bed with Savile.  In or around 1966, Savile moved to 101 Ascot Court on Bury New Road where the relationship continued.  When the client moved to London with her family in or around 1966 she continued to see him either travelling back to Manchester or visiting him at the Russell Hotel in Russell Square in London where Savile often had a room.

Peter Garsden, Managing Partner at QualitySolicitors Abney Garsden said: “It is extremely important that we make contact with as many people as possible who can confirm that our client, who wishes to remain anonymous at the moment, was abused by Jimmy Savile.  Since the abuse took place over 40 years ago it is extremely important that we lay our hands on as much supporting evidence as we can.  Our client has not been able to disclose the alleged abuse before now for fear that no one would believe her; she feared that he would harm her if she did.  We are interested in not only other victims, but also anyone that remembers anything about the locations mentioned.  We appreciate it might be difficult for people to make any kind of link between Savile and our client due to her anonymity but we would urge people to think about the places and times we have identified.  Jimmy Savile was such a high profile figure locally as well as nationally that any misdemeanours are unlikely to have gone unnoticed.
