Fixed Fee Divorce Costs

QualitySolicitors Bradbury Roberts & Raby promise no hidden charges but equally we understand that clients would like to know at the outset what their total legal bill will come to.
We have therefore created and are now able to offer a Fixed Fee Divorce Package.
For one fixed fee we will take all necessary steps from the initial meeting through to obtaining the final Decree Absolute of divorce. We are also happy for this fee to be paid by instalments as set out below.
Assuming there are no unforeseen problems
Our fixed fees are as follows:-
If you are the Petitioner (the person applying for the divorce)
Our Costs - £395.00
VAT @ 20% - 79.00
Court Fees - 385.00
TOTAL COSTS £859.00
If you are the Respondent (a person receiving the divorce papers)
Our Costs - £200.00
VAT @ 20% 40.00
TOTAL COSTS £240.00
What does the fixed fee include?
1. Advice about the proceedings from our specialist divorce solicitors
2. Preparing the Court documents i.e. the Divorce Petition, Statement of Arrangements for the Children, Certificate of Reconciliation, an Affidavit in support of the Petition together with the Applications for the Decree Nisi and final Decree Absolute of divorce.
3. Correspondence with your spouse or his/her Solicitors
BUT the fixed fee will not include:
1. Additional work If the Petition becomes defended or needs to be amended once it’s been issued by the Court.
2. The cost of obtaining a Marriage Certificate if you do not have the original or the cost of translation if it is not in English.
3. Arranging for the divorce papers to be served personally (this happens in very few cases).
4. Unforeseen complexities arising from the case which require additional work or advice.
5. Any advice regarding children or finances.
PAYMENT
If you are the Petitioner, we will ask you for:
a) Payment in advance of all Court Fees incurred i.e. £340 to start the proceedings and £45 to obtain the Decree Absolute.
b) £200 towards our costs before we commence proceedings.
c) £200 towards our costs upon the pronouncement of the Decree Nisi.
d) Payment of the balance of £74 prior to obtaining the final Decree Absolute.
If you are the Respondent:
a) £150 at the outset.
b) The balance of £90 upon pronouncement of the Decree Nisi.
Do I have to go to court?
In most cases it will be unnecessary for you to attend Court and we will deal with all correspondence with the Court and relieve you of the legalities of the divorce in what is bound to be a stressful time for you.
