Dunn & Baker Solicitors are delighted to announce the recent internal career progressions of Commercial Property Solicitor, Julia Spies, and Residential Property Solicitor, Kathy Cracknell.
As of the 1st January 2024 Julia became a Partner.
Julia joined Dunn & Baker Solicitors in 2016, having first qualified as a Solicitor in 2013. Julia specialises in all aspects of commercial property work including commercial sales/purchases, landlord and tenant matters (acting for both landlord and tenant) and business sales and acquisitions.
Julia’s commercial background and experience of business transactions gives her good commercial awareness and an understanding of the practicalities of commercial property transactions which involve the sale of a business. Julia has experience dealing with the sale and acquisition of shops, cafes and tourist attractions.
Priding herself on providing clear and timely advice to clients, Julia always ensures that her clients fully understand all aspects of their transactions. She likes to keep her clients fully informed of progress and, being conscious of clients’ expectations, aims to complete all matters in a timely manner.
Regarding her recent appointment, Julia has said “I am delighted to have been invited to join the partnership of Dunn & Baker Solicitors and I am looking forward to continuing to develop our busy Commercial Department and forging new business relationships.”
As of the 1st January 2024 Kathy became the Head of the Residential Property Department.
Kathy’s legal career began in 2010 where she worked for a local firm as a Conveyancing Assistant and commenced her Training Contract in 2013. After qualifying as a Solicitor in 2015, Kathy continued in Conveyancing, with a focus on Equity Release. She joined Dunn & Baker Solicitors in May 2023 as a Solicitor.
Kathy specialises in residential sales, purchases, remortgages, transfer of equity and land transfers, for both freehold and leasehold properties. She also has experience in dealing with Equity Release and subsequent sales and purchases where Equity Release is involved.
Kathy believes that providing clear and easy-to-understand advice to clients is vital during any transaction. With an empathetic nature, Kathy always tries to accommodate any requirements her clients have and is happy to use the communication method that her clients feel most comfortable with.
Relating her new role as the Head of the Residential Property Department, Kathy has said “I am thrilled to be appointed as the Head of Department of such a fantastic team and look forward to contributing to the development of the department by cementing ourselves as the go-to property specialists in Exeter, whilst maintaining our renowned client-centered approach.”
