Tim Clayton
Having joined Dunn & Baker Solicitors in March 2024, Tim is a Consultant Solicitor in the firm’s Dispute Resolution Department. With over 25 years’ experience, Tim is also an accredited Mediator of Commercial Disputes.
Tim obtained his training contract through first becoming a relief typist for 2 weeks, qualifying as a solicitor in 1998. Having risen to Partner level in that same firm, he studied for and obtained a Master’s Degree in Advanced Litigation (LL.M) from the world-renowned Nottingham Law School in 2002. He became an accredited Mediator of Commercial Disputes in 2006.
With a career spanning over 25 years, Tim has developed expertise in a wide variety of disciplines including:
- Building and construction disputes;
- Commercial contracts, breach of fiduciary duty and misrepresentation;
- Intellectual property disputes;
- Employment advice and disputes representing employers, employees and workers;
- Contested wills, probate claims and Inheritance Act disputes;
- Commercial property claims;
- Commercial and private landlord and tenant disputes;
- Interpretation of leases and covenants;
- Rights of way and boundary disputes.
Tim focusses on solutions which are in his clients’ best interests, rather than proceeding along a pre-determined path. He is realistic with clients concerning the litigation process and aims to set out clearly what can and cannot be achieved. Court proceedings should always be a last resort as they are invariably stressful, time consuming and costly. Having said this, he takes a robust approach on his clients’ behalf, wherever and whenever appropriate.
