As an alternate to charging on the basis of the time spent, we are pleased to offer a fixed fee to deal with divorce proceedings. Our fixed fees are as follows.

Petitioner (a person applying for the divorce) total £985 made up as follows;

Our costs - £500
VAT @ 20% - £100
Court fees - £385
Total costs £985

Respondent (a person receiving the divorce papers) total £480 made up as follows;

Our costs - £400
VAT @ 20% - £80
Total costs £480

Payment – we would look for payment of one half of our fees together with VAT and the whole of the Court fees payable before starting work, the remaining half and VAT to be made upon grant of decree nisi or after 4 months from first instruction whichever comes first (it is not good practice to apply for the decree to be made absolute i.e. to make the divorce final while any fees are outstanding or there are unresolved financial issues)

The fee includes the following;

a) Initial free consultation with one of our Customer Consultants
b) Advice about the proceedings.
c) Preparation of documents being divorce petition, statement of arrangements for the children, application for decrees nisi and absolute.
d) Affidavit to support decree nisi.
e) Correspondence with the other party or their Solicitors, agreeing content of petition and statement of arrangements in advance communicating with the Court and reporting to you.

The following is not included in the fee.

a) Attempting to locate the other party.
b) Obtaining an Order for service other than by post.
c) Defended divorce proceedings.
d) Arranging for divorce documents to be served on the other party personally (this procedure involves instructing a process server who will have separate instructions and his own fees).
e) Amending the divorce papers after proceedings have started.
f) Any additional expenses such as obtaining a certified copy of your marriage certificate (if you do not have the original).
g) Translation of your marriage certificate if this is not in English.
h) Unforeseen complexities arising from the case which require additional work or advice or attention.
I) Any advice regarding children or finances.
