In 2004 our client was assaulted. He was hit in the face twice by a work colleague he rented a property with. It resulted in him needing emergency surgery on his face, and he lost an eye. Our client was a civil engineer and very reliant on his sight for work, he also drove over 40,000 miles a year for work. This had a devastating impact on his career.

The man who assaulted him admitted causing grievous bodily harm and was sentenced to 2 years in jail.

We started a claim for Criminal Injury on behalf of our client to the CICA (Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority). Unfortunately it was at the same time of the sad incident of the London bombings and we were informed by CICA there might be a delay in processing our claim. We settled the claim this year for £290,000.00. It will never replace our clients eye, but will hopefully help with the financial loss in terms of loss of earnings etc he has suffered and will continue to suffer.
