Product liability is the area of law in which manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, retailers, and others who make products available to the public are held responsible for the injuries which those products cause.

For example, you may sustain injury when you bite into a food product and find a foreign body, such as a piece of plastic in a packet of crisps, or when you purchase a product that is defective causing you an injury, such as a faulty chair or faults on a newly purchased car.
