What happens in that first meeting?
You will meet with one of our family lawyers (currently on zoom or over the phone, but hopefully it won’t be too long until we have the option to also have these meetings face to face again) for up to an hour. In this meeting, you’ll be able to explain your situation and our lawyer will listen and give you tailored advice on the next steps for you.
How much detail can you go into if the meeting only lasts one hour?
Quite a lot actually! If it is advice about finances we will let you know what documents and figures to have to hand that will allow us to give you the fullest advice. Our aim is to help you understand your legal position and next steps for how you might sort things out.
What happens next?
You will receive a letter detailing all that we discuss (so don’t worry if you forget to write something down in the meeting, we’ve got you covered). This letter will include all of the advice we gave you, options for next steps and details of what further assistance you may need from us or others. This is included in the fixed fee meeting price.
Do I then have you use Amphlett Lissimore as my lawyer?
Not if you don’t want to. We are of course here and ready to help, but if you decide after our meeting that you can resolve everything over the kitchen table then that is a great result. We do recommend you come back to tie up the paperwork. Sometimes you know it is going to be tougher and you will need us to do more and we can do that too. We will discuss all of this (and the cost) when we meet.
How much does it cost?
Each of our family lawyers charge a one off fixed fee for this first meeting. These prices differ slightly depending on the lawyer but the price will be between £200 + VAT and £325 + VAT.
What have clients said after attending a fixed fee first meeting?
“Friendly and helpful service, I was able to get an appointment the next day. I went into the consultation not sure about where I stood and what my legal position was… I came away feeling more confident and with a plan about how to move forward.” – Natasha M.
“…Throughout our discussion it was clear that she was putting my best interest first. She explained the process clearly and made me aware of all my options. She listened to my concerns and offered possible solutions which were reassuring. Everything was transparent including fees. I felt that I could trust her and rely on her. I am very happy with the service provided and found the consultation very valuable.” - Shanthi S.
