Robert Taylor, head of the specialist Wills & Probate Department at QualitySolicitors Bradbury Roberts & Raby writes:
If I had a pound for every client who has said to me "I've been thinking about making my will for years" then I would be a rich man.
Equally, there are sad instances when children tell me their parents had mentioned making wills but never got round to it. I then have to often break the news that in the absence of a will the law imposes strict rules as to who inherits and these rules are often not in accordance with what their parents would have wished.
I fully understand that there can be a morbid apprehension about making a will but it really is an essential document to prepare. Everyone should make an up to date will to ensure their wishes are fully implemented and their loved ones protected rather than leaving matters to chance.
Did you know for instance that if you do not have a will then a wife does not automatically inherit everything from their husband?
Therefore if you do not have an up to date will I would urge.you to add "Make a Will" to your list of New Year resolutions and ring QualitySolicitors Bradbury Roberts & Raby to fix an initial meeting.
We have specialist lawyers here to help and guide you. Please do not worry about the cost. We offer all clients a free initial meeting and no work will be started without first agreeing a fixed fee with you.
The costs are in many cases far less than what clients think they will be.
