QualitySolicitors Bradbury Roberts & Raby is once again sponsoring the Special Recognition Award for 13-18 Year Olds.
We're really excited to be attending the 2015 star-studded ceremony and gala dinner on 16th October at New Dock Hall in Leeds and our Partner and Head of the Family Law Department, Sue Rands, will present the firm’s sponsored award on the night.
Originally launched in 2011, Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards is now firmly established on the Yorkshire Calendar as an annual fundraising event and awards wonderful, inspiring children and organisations for their bravery and achievements. Last year’s spectacular ceremony was attended by 700 people and raised a staggering £100k for local causes to be distributed via the Yorkshire committee of the St. James’s Place Foundation.
BBC Breakfast Business Journalist and programme co-host, Steph McGovern, returns as compere and co-host for this year’s event and says: “It’s all about the children, about those that don’t normally get recognised in the community. It’s the most worthy thing I do every year and it’s really good fun - and the kids are all gorgeous!"
Debbie Connolly, QualitySolicitors Bradbury Roberts & Raby's Marketing Manager, added: “The 2014 Awards was a truly inspirational event, it was fantastic to see so many deserving people recognised for their bravery! We really are honoured to be able to sponsor the same award for 2015 and help to raise as much money as we can for this important cause. I’m sure that once again we’ll all be very emotional on the night when we hear the children’s stories!”
The recent Awards Nominations Roadshow 2015 was launched by Yorkshire Post Newspapers, returning as Media Partner for the third year. The Nominations Box started with an appearance at main event sponsor Millhouse Interiors in Leeds, followed by Yorkshire-based Estate Agency chain Manning Stainton. The estate agency acted as official Roadshow Partner, hosting promotional activities at several of their offices to encourage nominations for deserving children and young adults by the 29 July deadline.
Joining the proceedings in their inimitable way were event Ambassadors, the evergreen Chuckle Brothers, who have been supporting and endorsing Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards for the past three years and will be enlivening the 2015 ceremony with their own personal brand of quick wit Yorkshire humour. They told us: "There are no words that can express the bravery of these children more than the way they lead their lives. That says it all. Love and good luck to them all. We are all very proud of them."

Thomas Raddings, who won the 13-18 Sporting Achievement Award in 2014, accompanied the Chuckle Brothers on the Roadshow in Wakefield. Thomas is recognised for his swimming with Able2 Pontefract Special Olympics, where he was selected to swim for Team GB at the French National Special Olympic Games. He won two medals and was the only under 18 in the Team.
St. James’s Place Foundation is a grant making charity which has raised and distributed in excess of £37 million to good causes over the last 22 years. The vast majority of funds raised come from fundraising or generous donations made by the Partners and employees of St. James’s Place and are matched pound for pound by the company.
