Winner of our Sponsored Community Champion Award - Outstanding Achievement Adult!

Sue Stow wins our sponsored North Lincolnshire Community Champion Award for Outstanding Achievement Adult.

Now in their fourth year, the annual Awards ceremony was held on Thursday 26 November 2015, at The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe and compered by BBC Presenter Blair Jacobs.

The occasion rewarded 22 remarkable individuals and groups for some outstanding achievements in our community that often go unrecognised.  The four categories represented were Volunteer, Achievement, Community and Inspiration.

Organised by North Lincolnshire Council, in association with the Scunthorpe Telegraph, the event has gone from strength to strength since it was launched and, this year, saw no less than 144 nominations received, which gave the judging panel an extremely difficult task.

The wealth of nominations demonstrated the sheer volume of good works achieved by local people during 2015.

Guests of the event were treated to a two course meal and entertained by the Broughton Primary School Choir, Outwood Academy Foxhills Dance Club and the Scunthorpe Co-operative Junior Choir.

QualitySolicitors Bradbury Roberts & Raby sponsored the Award for Outstanding Achievement Adult, which was proudly presented to worthy winner Sue Stow, by the firm's Partner Robert Taylor.

Sue has been fostering vulnerable children, who have difficulties, for 31 years and modestly said: "I could not believe I was shortlisted."  Award runner-up was Kim Louise Crawford.

QualitySolicitors Bradbury Robert's & Raby has been a proud Sponsor of the Awards since its launch and as a result of our association, Practice Manager, Patrick King, was kindly invited to be a judge for the occasion. Patrick added:

"I continue to be amazed at the standard of the nominees which is maintained,  year on year and which makes the judging increasingly difficult. Additionally, I had not fully appreciated how many people give so generously of their time and resources for the benefit of others in all areas of the community."
