The regulations were also considered on the same day by the House of Commons First Delegated Legislation Committee. Both debates included some discussion about minimum wage levels and enforcement strategy.
The regulations will amend regulation 4 of the National Minimum Wage Regulations 2015 to increase the various rates of the national minimum wage.
These increases were announced on 14 March 2016 and will apply from 1 October 2016 (see Legal update, National minimum wage rates from 1 October 2016).
For information on the current minimum wage rates, see Checklist, Current rates and limits for employment lawyers: National minimum wage.
