Peter joined the firm in 1973 and qualified as an Accredited Police Station Advisor in 2001. Peter works closely with Jonathan David, who is the Partner heading the department, in all criminal related matters.
Peter has been advising at police stations for many years from the most trivial of offences up to and including murder investigations. Peter and/or Jonathan are on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week to ensure that clients who have been arrested are dealt with correctly under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act and are either released without charge or bailed pending further enquiries or charged and sent to court.
Peter also advises clients who are being investigated by Local Authorities and Government Agencies in relation to fraudulent claims for Benefits.
Peter is responsible for the preparation of all the criminal matters that are committed to the Crown Court. He obtains detailed instructions from clients, locating and interviewing witnesses which not only includes witnesses to the facts of an allegation but also expert witnesses so that the prosecution evidence can be examined as to its accuracy.
Peter has a very good working relationship with a number of specialist criminal barristers. He is therefore able to ensure our clients have a barrister who is skilled in defending their particular case but who is also suited in terms of personality thus establishing a trusted team for the client.
Peter also assists in the preparation of cases conducted by Jonathan David in the Magistrates Court including motoring offences.
Peter assists Jonathan in representing clients in care proceedings brought by Local Authorities. These proceedings sometimes overlap when criminal accusations have been made.
If you and queries in relation to any criminal, public law or child care matter, please contact Peter. If he is unavailable, please speak to his secretary, Clare Williams, or ask for another member of the team.
