Brighton SEO 2016

Our marketing team were lucky enough to attend the huge Brighton SEO event on Friday 2nd September, and what a day it was! From going from a small room above a pub to booking out one of Brighton’s largest venues and selling out over 3000 tickets in 13 minutes, the growth of Brighton SEO is truly inspirational. The conference had numerous speakers from all parts of the industry, sharing their knowledge and advice to people who had travelled from all across the country to attend and learn more.

Rosie and Tammy attended several talks throughout the day which started off with the Google Analytics session with expert speakers from Analytics Director at Measurelab Dara Fitzgerald, Dr Jess Spate Analytics & Conversion Specialist at Jb Web Analytics, and Anna Lewis Owner at Polka Dot Data, who explained all things to do with Analytics 360 Suite and making more use of its features.

Key takeaway: "knowing your customer is crucial to making the most use of your website."

Our Marketing Manager Rosie went to a the Links session and heard a great talk by Digital Marketing Specialist Aisha Kellaway from White net, about using PR to fuel your digital marketing strategy.

Key takeaway: “Digital PR is anything that influences your online relationships and reputation through communication”.

This was followed by Rosie’s favourite talk of the day by Digital Marketing Manager Sophie Turton; from Brighton agency Boz Boz who spoke about user generated content.

Key takeaway: “Users are in control of their own digital journey.”

In the afternoon Rosie joined the SEO Success session with talks on ‘moving the dial’, SEO fixes and finding the value of digital PR beyond the links.  

Key takeaway: “To have success in SEO you must (have) EAT = Expertise Authority & Trust”

Our marketing assistant Tammy went along to the Content Marketing session where; Steve Linney Founder of eMRKTNG, Chief Commercial Officer at Melt Content Helena Hall and Simon Bennison Head of Content Marketing at Caliber, were the expert speakers. They each spoke about the benefits of digital marketing and the best ways to strategies this approach to gain a responsive audience.

Key takeaway: “for every £1 spent on email marketing generates £29 in revenue.”

After a quick lunch break Tammy also attended the Social session where a fabulous talk was given by Greg Gifford Director of Search and Social at DealerOn, who spoke about the power of Facebook adverts and how to target specific audiences.

Key takeaway: “To be successful, you have to start with a goal.”
