Sussex Law Society: President's update

I recently had the pleasure of attending the Law Society’s Past President’s dinner, which was my first formal event as President of the Sussex Law Society. It reminded me of the history of the Sussex Law Society, which dates back to 1934! The chain of office has inscribed upon it all the names of the Past Presidents. Unsurprisingly, there are more male names than female, but I fully suspect that this imbalance will be addressed in the years to come.

I would like to offer my thanks to Oliver Maxwell-Jones for organising the event, which was a great success and reminded me how much I like Port!

My thanks also go to Honorary Secretary, Cerys Sayer, for representing the Society at the Chichester and District Law Society Dinner at Chichester Cathedral and to General Committee member, Holly Goacher, for attending the Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge & District Law Society dinner.

I am delighted to announce that the Committee approved the nomination of Jacqueline Hardaway at our last Committee Meeting in November as Vice President. Jacqui is the Managing Director of Dawson Hart in Uckfield and Head of Litigation and Personal Injury/Clinical Negligence. She has served on the Committee since 2016 and I am very much looking forward to working with her in the coming year.

Finally, I would like to wish all members a very Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year.
