Catherine Siverns

Associate Solicitor

‘I genuinely want to help make buying or selling a property as smooth a process as possible for my clients as it is so rewarding to be able to help and support clients through the potentially stressful process of a property transaction. With property purchases in particular, it's great to hear how happy clients are when they start enjoying their new home.’

Catherine gained her Law Degree from Lancaster University and went on to complete the Legal Practice Course at City University in London. After undertaking a training contract with another legal firm in Brighton, Catherine qualified as a solicitor in 2014 and joined the Howlett Clarke Conveyancing team in 2017.

During her conveyancing career, Catherine has gained vast experience and achieved constant results in all types of residential property transactions including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, lease extensions, remortgages, right-to-buys and shared ownerships. Her knowledge and ability covers all aspects in this area of law as she sees through every stage of every case from instruction to completion.

Ever practical, it’s really important to Catherine to keep every case moving and to make sure nothing loses the attention it needs. Even during times when the situation may seem out of her hands, Catherine will work hard to ensure nothing is forgotten or overlooked and most importantly, that the client is always kept in the loop. Catherine’s clients benefit from her continuous cool head, even under the most intense pressure. Her natural ability to easily liaise with all parties involved in the transaction means that momentum is rarely lost and each process is always kept running smoothly to a successful conclusion.

When not at work, Catherine loves a personal challenge and has previously climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, learned to ski and has run two marathons. Catherine is currently contemplating her next challenge but in the meantime can be found at a few gin and wine tasting sessions.

Areas of Practice:

  • Property Purchase & Sale Conveyancing

  • Buying & Selling at Auction

What our clients say about Catherine:

‘Catherine was helpful, quick to respond and professional. Contrary to previous experiences of other solicitors, I felt like she was really proactive, getting things done and acting on MY behalf.’

Most people will have heard the good news in the budget announcement yesterday that stamp duty will no longer be payable for most first time buyers. This means a potential saving of up to £5,000 on the costs of buying a property, but what are the rules?

A lot of first time buyers have opened Help to Buy ISA accounts in order to take advantage of the government bonus which boosts your savings by 25%. Simply opening an account and paying into it however does not necessarily mean you qualify for the bonus. In order to qualify you have to live in the UK, be purchasing your first property which you will live in as your home and be buying with a mortgage.
