Erina Nyakoojo

Erina is a Solicitor in our Childcare Department, representing clients when Children’s Services have become involved with their families.  Erina joined the J A Hughes in July 2017 and is based in our Barry office.  Erina also sees clients in our Cardiff and Penarth offices when needed.

Erina studied at the University of Swansea where she attained her LLB (Hons) degree in 2005. After leaving University she worked as a personal injury paralegal before joining the Family Department of a busy Cardiff law firm in 2008.  In this role Erina gained a wealth of family law experience before undertaking the LPC at Cardiff University.

Erina stayed within the Family Department of Cardiff Law Firm where she completed her training contract and qualified as a solicitor in March 2015.  Throughout her time there, Erina built up a vast experience in all areas of family law.

In December 2016 Erina took a short career break using the time to backpack around South East Asia.  Erina returned to the UK and joined the Care Department of J A Hughes as a solicitor in July 2017.  In this role Erina can advise and assist her clients in all areas of public law, can attend case conferences and pre-proceedings meetings and can represent parents in care proceedings.  Erina feels this area of law provides unique challenges for those working in it and she gains great satisfaction in meeting them.  She feels that it is vital that parents going through what can be the most distressing and stressful processes are given high quality and effective advice, assistance and representation.

In her spare time Erina is involved with an amateur dramatics group in her local community.  She also enjoys reading and listening to Podcasts.  Erina is an avid fan of the BBC radio programme, The Archers.
