On the 27th October 2012 QualitySolicitors Knight Polson were represented at the 5K Great South Run by Peter Booker who completed the course in just over 29 minutes. By completing the course and enduring the freezing weather conditions Peter managed to raise over £150.00 for Countess Mountbatten Hospice.
Many of you may well have heard about one of George Osbourne’s latest employment announcements: the “Owner-Employee” employment contracts or “shares for rights” idea. You may well also have noticed that it has not “gone down well” in the press. All I can say is that I can see why.
Since the start of the recession it has become more common for tenants to require break clauses in their leases to enable them to end the lease early if their business does not thrive as anticipated. In these times of financial difficulty it is also not uncommon for tenants not to seek legal advice in connection with the terms of proposed leases and exercising break clauses in existing leases. In failing to seek specialist advice tenants are opening themselves up to the possibility that their break clause has not been validly exercised.
