What Is a Settlement Agreement?

Once you have been advised of your options, you may then wish to sign the Settlement Agreement. This is a final document signed by both employer and employee to detail the terms of the employment being terminated, as well as any compensation the employee will receive.

Settlement agreements can be complex, with clauses about tax liability, restrictions and confidentiality after the employment ends.

In order for the settlement agreement to be binding the employee must seek legal advice and the qualified adviser will sign and adviser’s certificate. The employer will contribute towards the employee’s legal fees. We act as independent advisers for employees.

If you have been asked to sign a settlement agreement, our team of experts can help you.
