I was surprised by how long the whole process took. At one point I didn’t realise you were waiting for information from me. My request was completed in accordance with my wishes, for around the cost I was expecting. I think 3 different lawyers worked on my case, and this didn’t appear to add any delays to the process. All the people I dealt with were friendly and answered all my questions. I felt everyone was very approachable too, though I am not particularly demonstrative in character, so I imagine this might not always be the case, as lawyers are bound to be very busy people.

Overall the service was very good. I would make one small point: undoubtedly there are many tasks to be completed in the process of conveyancing and often, inevitably, a customer wants things to move faster than they can do. But there are some things that seemed to be slower than is typical in other industries/businesses, e.g. use of regular mail service to transfer documents that could be emailed and then an original signed by the customer followed up as the "official" copy. Excellence is much more easily recognised in complex, infinitely personal matters where outcomes are crucial. Alison masterminded our new wills. Quite painless, apart from the bill. My wife feels that the frequent references to the "sadness" of the occasion were misplaced, and I have to agree. It is probably in the How to Do Wills manual, but we feel more relief and satisfaction than anything else, certainly not sadness. I can imagine circumstances in which sadness might predominate but I doubt if they are typical.
