Update on the VW scandal

As more information is discovered about the emissions scandal, we are able to confirm who is likely to be affected. The affected vehicles were those with Euro 5 emission standards, sold between September 2009 and September 2014.

VW have recently confirmed that the recall of the affected vehicles will commence in January 2016. It is understood that the numbers of affected vehicles in the UK is as follows:

  • Volkswagen Passenger Cars – 508,276
  • Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles – 79,838
  • Audi (A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, TT, Q3 and A5 models) – 393,450
  • ŠKODA – 131,569
  • SEAT – 76,773

It may not be every vehicle in the above ranges that are affected, the ones that are most likely to be subject to the defeat device will have an EA189 engine (1.2 litre, 1.6 litre and 2.0 litre diesel engines (TDIs – Turbo Diesel Injection)).
