Nick Penwell

Senior Partner / Solicitor / Head of Private Client Department

Nick is the Senior Partner of Dunn & Baker Solicitors and Head of the Private Client Team. He has over 34 years experience in private client work, specialising in Wills, Tax Planning, Probate and Powers of Attorney having initially worked with a firm in Torquay in 1984.

Nick qualified as a Solicitor in 2004 having successfully completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at Exeter University. He became a Partner in 2006.

Nick is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and also a full accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly.

Nick’s particular area of expertise and interest is in the preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney, Estate Administration and Inheritance Tax Planning with a special focus on the law affecting the older client. He has recently been involved in the administration of some high profile multi million pound estates and his client base extends to all areas of the UK and beyond. He is active on the “Seminar Circuit” and is always willing to give talks to local groups on the importance of Wills and other issues. He has recently widened his experience of specialism to Personal Injury Settlements. Having worked in the profession for over 34 years he brings considerable experience to the firm as a whole. He has been designated the firm’s Compliance Officer for legal practice (COLP) by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. He is a member of the Probate Section of the Law Society, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE). He has recently been awarded the Solicitors for the Elderly Client Care and Practice Award. He is married with two sons and lives in the Teignbridge area.
