On Britain’s roads in 2016, there were 181,384 accident casualties; 1,792 of these were fatal. A report from the House of Commons Library shows that of those fatal road accident victims, 46% were car occupants, 25% were pedestrians, 25% motorcyclists and 6% cyclists. According to the World Health Organisation, injuries from road traffic accidents are the leading cause of death for young people aged between 15 and 29 years of age. It highlights that not just drivers can claim for injuries sustained on the road as road traffic accidents can harm anyone.
