Postponement of Possession Proceedings

The Court rules put in place to govern Possession hearings have been amended with immediate effect from the 27th of March 2020. They will postpone all Possession Proceedings and all proceedings seeking to enforce an Order for Possession for a period of 90 days.

What does this mean?
This means that Landlords will not be able to evict tenants, with the exception of injunctive proceedings in emergency cases. Whilst this of course provides important protection for tenants, it does create a difficult situation for Landlords, especially where large amounts of rent arrears are due and subsequently accruing.
