Stephen Ash

Stephen is a solicitor and Partner at Barwells with over 14 years experience specialising in Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Estate Administration, Inheritance Tax planning and elderly client affairs.

Stephen works with a dedicated and experienced team and is mainly based in our Seaford office, but also has clients in Hailsham, Newhaven and across Sussex. He joined the company in 2004 as a trainee and passed with distinction with both a law degree and subsequent legal practice course whilst working at the firm. Stephen qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and became a Partner in 2011.

Since qualifying as a solicitor, Stephen has also obtained the prestigious Society of Trust a and Estates practitioners qualification and is working towards passing exams to become a member of the ‘Solicitors for the Elderly’. Stephen prides himself on offering a friendly and caring approach with a personal and professional service tailored to the specific needs of clients at what can often be a difficult time of their lives. He deals with a mixed portfolio of work including making Wills, Power of Attorney and guiding Executors through their legal and financial duties when administering a deceased Estate. More recently Stephen has dealt with several high value Wills and Estates and has advised on Inheritance Tax saving techniques. He also regularly advises families about how assets can be protected for children when planning for long term care.

Outside of work Stephen enjoys going to music gigs, (occasionally) going to the gym and spending time with family.
