Tim Weatherhogg

Associate / Chartered Legal Executive

Tim started working in a solicitor’s office in Bude in 1987, before moving to Plymouth in 1989 and joining Dunn & Baker Solicitors in October 1991. Tim qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1993.

Tim is a Resolution Accredited Specialist (Private Law Children and Domestic Abuse) as well as a member of the Law Society’s Family Law Accreditation Scheme.

Tim has over 30 years of experience in dealing with family matters.

Tim’s main specialism is working with parents and family members regarding all aspects of their children, and has expert knowledge in effectively helping families with Children’s Services. This includes assisting and attending at meetings and helping on any Court related matter. However, for the most part, this involves meeting face to face with those who are going through what can be a very difficult and painful experience and trying to help in whatever way he can. As well as a sympathetic approach, Tim also has a realistic approach from the outset.

Tim also assists parents with Mental Health issues as well as parents who have difficulties concerning drug and alcohol misuse, non-accidental injuries to their children and abusive relationships. He often helps young and vulnerable parents who themselves may have had a difficult childhood to deal with. In addition, he has also assisted parents in the Court of Appeal.

There are many issues which parents can face when it comes to their children and Tim has expert knowledge in dealing with many aspects regarding children disputes, including child arrangement orders dealing with where children should live or spend time with. He also handles disputes concerning the issue of a child moving abroad or being taken out of the country without the agreement of both parents. Tim also advises upon any issues relating to parental responsibility.

He also deals with legally aided clients on a regular basis and, if it can be obtained, he has the expert knowledge to apply for the same. Where there are still conflicting reports of whether legal aid is available - Tim can consider that issue with you from the outset.

Tim handles all aspects of domestic abuse work and injunctions, including any issues surrounding the family home. He will also consider how abuse can impact on other issues including your children.

Tim has previously conducted cases involving wider aspects of family work including divorce and separation, domestic disputes, finances and co-habitation. In light of this he can give general advice regarding these matters and refer you to a colleague in our expert team of family lawyers.
