The Registry will now accept deeds signed using the ‘Mercury signing approach’. This process involves capturing a signature page with a scanner or camera and emailing the image to the conveyancer. Signatures still need to be signed in pen and witnessed in person (not by video call).
In addition to conveyancers and chartered legal executives, verification can now also be undertaken by people working in various professions including teaching staff, doctors and police officers.
