- We have been discovering all sorts of interesting statistics on the gov.uk website here https://explore-education-statistics.service.gov.uk/data-tables this week. For instance, in 2019 1,710 pupils with EHCPs in Warwickshire attend a special school, whereas 1,267 were educated at mainstream schools. 161 were educated elsewhere. Information can also be found about numbers of EHCPs issued and refused by area, amongst other statistics
- Also this week we have signed up to the mailing list for evidence submissions for the All Party Parliamentary Group for Special Educational Needs and Disability (or APPGSEND for short!). The sign-up link is here https://www.naht.org.uk/about-us/our-councils-committees-and-forums/all-party-parliamentary-group-on-send/ and an enquiry will be launched in July.
- We have also been spending some time looking in detail at the latest government guidance for children with SEND returning to school, which can be found here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-send-risk-assessment-guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-send-risk-assessment-guidance - if you have any specific queries regarding your child’s return to school, please do get in touch.
- There is also updated guidance for those receiving Direct Payments via a personal budget or a personal health budget https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-for-people-receiving-direct-payments/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-for-people-receiving-direct-payments
- The government are developing plans to help children, including those with SEN, catch up on schooling that they have missed out on during the current public health crisis. Keep an eye out on Twitter, the news and on our website for further details of the scheme as and when it is released.
