Huge Congratulations on exam success

Claire Houghton, a Solicitor in our Wills and Probate department has recently passed her accounts exam for the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

STEP is the global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning.   STEP members help families plan for their futures from drafting a will to advising on issues concerning protection of the vulnerable, family businesses and philanthropic giving.  Full STEP members are internationally recognised as experts in their field with proven qualifications and experience.

Becoming a Full STEP Member is a benchmark many solicitors strive for: it is the top professional qualification for a Wills, Trusts and Probate solicitor. Full qualification allows a practitioner to demonstrate their knowledge, passion and commitment towards their specialist line of work.

The process to become STEP qualified is highly rigorous. Four modules must be completed to achieve the STEP Diploma: Administration of Trusts, Administration of Estates, Taxation of Trusts and Estates, and Trust and Estate Accounting.  Months of studying are undertaken independently in the solicitor's own time and Claire has one more exam before becoming a fully qualified TEP.

Why choose a STEP qualified solicitor?

Being STEP qualified gives a solicitor the highest level of credibility and therefore an unrivalled edge over other solicitors and services.  Dealing with a solicitor who is STEP qualified also gives the client the assurance that their solicitor has a wealth of knowledge in their field that is kept up-to-date with on-going training.

Ann Donnelly, Head of our Wills and Probate team who is a STEP qualified member said "Badly drafted Wills can have a devastating effect for families at a really sensitive time and the STEP qualification gives clients the reassurance that their solicitor has the highest level of knowledge and experience.  We are absolutely delighted with Claire's recent exam success and we wish her the best of luck with her final exam".
