Another Historic Case Given Leave

The Court of Appeal gives leave to another of QualitySolicitors Jordans appeals on a Historic Conviction for Sexual abuse .

This demonstrates the continuing concerns over cases brought so many decades after the event .

The Court of Appeal has given permision in R v X . X was convicted in 2010 at Exeter of Historic Sexual Abuse and has always maintained his innocence .

The Single Judge concluded that it was arguable that the delay and loss of key documentation may have led to the exceptional prejudice identified by the Lord Chief Justice in R v F [ 2011 ] such that the Court could consider the convictions unsafe .

The Full appeal will be fixed at a later date .

[ It is our Policy not to identify appellants prior to the Full Appeal and order of the Court unless their name is in the public domain already ] . X Is represented by Mark Newby of QualitySolicitors Jordans . His Counsel is Mark Barlow of Garden Court North Chambers .
