Making a Will - The facts

Making a Will, it is a depressing thought isn’t it? None of us want to think of a time when we won’t be there to look after our loved ones and it is tempting to stick our heads in the sand and ignore it. Do you recognise this way of thinking? If so you are not alone, over half of UK adults die without making a Will, preferring to put it off until another time.

A Will is your first step forward

So what happens if you don’t make a Will?  You will die intestate, which is the legal term that means you die without a Will and all your assets will be distributed in accordance with special rules.  That in turn means that all your wishes may go unheeded and you may be causing financial stress to your family, at a very difficult time.

Not only does a Will cover your financial assets but also other important things.  The guardianship of young children, for example, or even your funeral wishes. You may have a business that you want to be passed to the right person or special gifts that have sentimental value.  Sometimes, if a person dies without any remaining family, their assets go to the Crown.

At QualitySolicitors Parkinson Wright, we know that your ultimate aim is to look after you family and loved ones. We are here to help make that happen with the creation of a Will that will help ease the burden after your death.
