What does a CCJ mean?

A county court judgement (CCJ) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is a court order that can be registered against you if you fail to respond to a court claim or you owe money to a debt collection agency for example.

If you have a CCJ against you, you may find it difficult to get loans or credit in the future, as they can negatively affect your credit rating for up to 6 years. It’s important that you pay the judgment if you owe the money, even via a debt repayment plan if possible, as the debt will not be dismissed.
