Welcome to our Health and Community Care team!
Based in our Westgate House office, I lead a unique multi-disciplinary team that provides legal services on issues relating to care and later life.
I have over fifteen years’ experience working with and on behalf of vulnerable clients. I know from experience that a crisis does not happen in isolation – a sudden hospital admission can mean that someone needs to sort out a power of attorney and make decisions about where they will live and the care they will receive. These often competing issues have been the driving force in how I developed our team, which is a mixture of solicitors, legal executives, assistants, support staff and even a clinical adviser. Each team member has their own unique areas of expertise to ensure that we can provide a cost effective service that is tailored to your circumstances – a one-stop health and care legal service. Prepare for Care
A lot of the work we do is focused on advice and representation during a crisis – from a disputed will or a contested court application through to disputes about hospital discharge and care funding. But there is another side to the work we do, which we are absolutely passionate about and that is the importance of planning ahead for later life.
We know that most people struggle to get excited about powers of attorney, wills or care planning but we are on a mission to show how a few hours preparation can save time, money and heartache further down the line.
We also know that many people are daunted by the thought of contacting a solicitor and worried about the costs. We offer free legal clinics, in partnership with Age UK Warwickshire and the Citizens Advice Bureau (Bedworth) and discounted, fixed rates at the clinics for wills and powers of attorney.
To try and reach people before a crisis hits, we also offer training and information seminars to other professionals, including charity and support workers, financial advisers and care providers. We believe that providing up to date legal information gives them confidence in their work and enables them to signpost clients to other services where appropriate.
Anyone – professional or client – can also sign up to receive our regular free newsletter.
The law, just like health and social care, is full of Jargon – please do click on the links below to learn more about each of the services or visit our Jargon Busting page.
