We are thrilled that Charlotte Bell, a solicitor in our Court of Protection team has successfully completed the British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 course. Charlotte has been attending her local deaf centre weekly to learn BSL and has successfully passed her first three exams. It is hoped that increasing her knowledge and awareness of BSL will assist with providing greater opportunities to represent deaf clients and to assist with communicating with her clients directly, reducing the reliance on third parties.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed attending night school and meeting people within the deaf community. I feel strongly that by building upon my sign language skills, any barriers that exist can be broken down. I feel really passionately that everyone’s voice should be heard and being able to sign as a solicitor enables me to communicate with my clients. I’m really looking forward to starting Level 2”
Well done Charlotte!
Charlotte will be commencing her Level 2 qualification in June 2023.
