Nationwide Network Of Solicitors Raise Huge Amount For Children's Charity

Wednesday 4th January 2016

A leading network of law firms has raised a total of over £25,000 in 2016 alone for children’s charity Barnardo’s.

QualitySolicitors (QS), which has over 100 office locations across the UK, has been fundraising to raise money for their charity partner of six years, Barnardo’s.

2016 was an especially important year for Barnardo’s as they commemorated their 150th anniversary whilst also launching their new ten-year brand strategy in September 2016.

QualitySolicitors firms across the country have devised a number of creative ways to raise money and awareness of the critical work Barnardo’s do. For example, Frank Lissimore, a Managing Partner at QS Amphlett Lissimore in South-East London undertook a week’s long motorcycle road trip across the length and breadth of England, whilst employees at QS Barwells in Seaford challenged themselves to collectively ride 120 miles on exercise bikes.

Balkar Bains from QS Lawrence Hamblin in South Bucks, Reading and Henley climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in July, whilst Sam Watton from Doncaster-based QS Jordans took on Britain’s biggest mountain, Ben Nevis in Scotland.

In addition to individuals at QS firms taking on remarkable feats, QualitySolicitors also carried out a number of network-wide initiatives. The most successful of these was Will Month 2016, where QS firms across the country offered their time for free throughout October to those looking to educate themselves on the process of creating a Will.

Dedicating this time for free not only raised consumer awareness of a hugely important issue, it also secured scores of legacy donations from those who took advantage of the free service and were kind enough to leave a gift to the QualitySolicitors’ official charity partner.

Sallie Winterbottom, Marketing Executive for Barnardo’s, said; “We are so grateful to all the QualitySolicitors’ firms and employees that have contributed to this incredible amount of donations raised by the group.

“The number of QS employees who have undertook challenges as part of our Bucket List Challenge is amazing and we look forward to working with the network in 2017 and beyond.”

Nick Howitt, Network Development Director at QualitySolicitors comments, “QualitySolicitors firms across the country really have raised the bar.  2016 is a really big year in the history of Barnardo’s and we couldn’t be prouder of the firms that have risen to the challenge and raised vital funds for the charity. We look forward to working closely with Barnardo’s in 2017 to help them deliver the invaluable services they provide to some of the country’s most disadvantaged children.”

Even when 2016 was coming to an end, QS firms showed no sign of slowing down. QS Amphlett Lissimore donated gift card vouchers to those who use Barnardo’s that are 16 years or older, whilst QS HPJV staff were busy making Christmas Eve boxes for young children in Newport, buying and wrapping pyjamas and also presenting them with £5 gift cards.

The successes of 2016 will continue throughout this year with the launch of Barnardo’s initiative ‘New Year New You’. This will see QS firms and employees take on even more challenges for the children’s charity in 2017.
