I am a partner and I have the widest legal experience at Alexander and Partners, covering a broad range of legal areas. I have specialised in family law since qualifying as a solicitor over 30 years ago. Initially acting on welfare rights for the Child Poverty Action Group and after a brief career in politics as Labour councillor for Barnet in 1971, I became involved with Alexander and Partners.
The first Alexander and Partners office in Harlesden was opened in 1973 and quickly became a notable community law firm, doing a wide range of work, from criminal to housing, employment to injunctions and family law. Having had a number of reported cases to the European Court of Justice has given us additional experience and legal skills.
In recent years my work has mostly focused on childcare law cases and medical negligence.
Having been there from the beginning I feel I am the keeper of the firm’s values and history, and its vision.
I take pride in offering my clients advice and support in a sympathetic and professional way with transparent and predictable fees.
At Alexander and Partners we have over forty years of experience in resolving problems related to family law, which has become one of our most established areas of law. This includes divorce and separation, the un-married family, childcare and domestic abuse.
I have developed a wealth of expertise in the un-married family, a difficult area where couples, or members of the same family, have property together and are in dispute. This can include a couple, members of a family or a ‘common law marriage’.
In childcare I do my own advocacy, including final hearings, which can last a few days. Having me as their representative gives clients reassurance and the benefit of continuity of representation at particularly difficult moments in their lives.
Medical negligence can be very distressing and emotionally difficult. My extensive experience in this area and professional and compassionate way gives my clients reassurance that they are in great hands. At Alexander and Partners we operate on a no win no fee basis.
I have been a member of the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel for many years and a founding member of the Children Panel.
My interest in children extends beyond the area of law and I am actively involved in the local community. I am school governor at Malorees Infant School, in South Brent.
