How long will it be before my criminal prosecution gets to trial?

If you plead ‘guilty’ in the Magistrates’ Court you could be dealt with in a few days and certainly within a month. A ‘not guilty’ plea is likely to see a trial in three to six months.
For more serious offences, a Crown Court trial may take nine months or longer where you have entered a ‘not guilty’ plea.
