I’ve had an accident and injury – when do I have to claim by?

It depends. The general rule is that for adults you have three years to have either settled your claim or started court proceedings. If the injury was in connection with an assault or travel by air or sea then the deadline is two years. With accident is abroad ‘local’ laws often apply which can be as little as six months.

There are also some very limited circumstances when the time limit can be extended – you need to talk to an expert and take legal advice and they will make sure whatever the deadline is, it is not missed.
