Are there limits on what a living will can cover?

Yes there are. A living will cannot be used to:
- Ask for anything that is illegal - such as euthanasia or to help you commit suicide
- Demand care that those treating you consider inappropriate
- Refuse measures solely designed to maintain your comfort (such as pain relief, warmth or shelter)
- Refuse food or drink
- Refuse basic nursing care designed to keep you comfortable
