I have been appointed to look after a relative’s finances as they have lost their mental capacity but I feel I need help

If you have been appointed as either their Attorney or Deputy, our specialist lawyers can advise you on how best to manage any financial matters.

To be an Attorney this will need to have been part of a Power of Attorney arrangement your relative made before they lost their mental capacity. If this is the case we can help you register the power with the Court of Protection. Alternatively, if they did make a Power of Attorney before losing capacity, we can help you apply to be their Deputy – again via the Court of Protection. If it is a complicated case, you may want us to be appointed their Deputy.
