Been made redundant – what can I claim?

If you’ve been with your employer for more than two years, you can claim statutory redundancy pay, as well as any holiday pay, bonuses, commission or statutory notice pay (if you’ve worked there at least one month). What you receive will depend on your age and length of service.

Typically, it’s the company that pays you, but the government will be responsible for payment if the firm becomes insolvent. If you weren’t on a fixed salary or your hours were irregular (e.g. seasonal working hours), what you’re owed will depend on your average rate of pay for the previous 12 weeks as well as any holiday accrued. You can use the statutory redundancy calculator to work out how much you’re entitled to.
