MONDAY 18TH JULY 2016 – Staff have raised over £600 and counting for the children’s charity Barnardo’s following a successful climb of the Yorkshire Three Peaks.
The firm was represented by a group of four intrepid climbers, led by Senior Partner and founder of the business David Acklam, 62. Mr Acklam was joined on the challenge by trainee solicitor Steward Croft, 25 and other members of staff.
Setting off at 8am on the 02 July 2016, the group battled through unseasonal weather, eventually scaling the final of the three peaks at 19.50 on the 02 July 2016. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge involves scaling the three biggest summits in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Scaling the mountains of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent involve hiking a total of 7,000 ft. in the face of sheer gradients and is a challenge for even the most seasoned climbers.
The group hike is just the latest in a series of initiatives that the firm is taking part in to raise funds for Barnardo’s. Previously, the firm has taken part in various bake sales in order to raise money for Barnardo’s and plans to do a further walk with Sallie Winterbottom of the Barnardo’s Gift in Wills Team.
David Acklam, Senior Partner and Founder of QS Acklam Bond comments, ’The whole process of preparing for and taking on the Three Peaks Challenge has really energized everyone at the firm. There is a real desire to support Barnardo’s across the QualitySolicitors and we are delighted to be able to do our bit. Taking on the Three Peaks in typically inclement British summertime weather was no easy task and I couldn’t be prouder of all the staff at the office who helped us raise this sum of money for the charity.’
